Besides the production of electricity from waste and biomass the importance of power generation from renewable raw materials becomes more and more important. In 2005, the company Rhein-Main Deponie GmbH started to convince regional farmers to get together and to raise renewable raw materials, like corn, herbage and whole plants. These substrates are fermented in plants, in order to generate biogas. Afterwards, the gas is burned in gas engines and converted into electricity.
